Created in the Image of GOD
It was quite uplifting as men of the Redeemed Christian Church God, Belgium gathered in an idyllic resort in Wallonia territory of Belgium. It was their annual retreat and this year’s theme was Created in the Image of GOD.
Genesis 1: 26 and 27
26 Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals,[a] and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”
27 So God created mankind in his own image,
in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them
Though the turn out was not so woaw yet the meeting had exceptional quality.
The main speaker was Pastor Mike Nwanegbo, who is the national coordinator of the RCCG in the Kingdom of Belgium. He is also the Region Six coordinator of the Church. This is in European Mainland, covering a reasonable number of countries. His base church is the New Life International, which is in the city of Antwerp. He is the Pastor of the church, which is the head office of the RCCG in Belgium.
He had therefore spoken expansively on the issue of man created in the image of God. Treating strongly the fact that man acting in the image of his creator has the power to effect a change in his environment and also in himself. He equally ellucidated on the limitations or handicap of man to achive this power given to him by God from the beginning of creation.
The high light of the event however was the segment which was a discuss on the challenges that men face in their daily living. This was cordinated by Pastor Dahi. He is the the pastor of Living Waters Parish in Ostend and the Faith Tabernacle in the Damport area of the city of Gent. Both in Belgium. The coordinator had introduced this topic, stating that he had a three point approach, being men at home, men in the work place and men in the church. Alas, that could not be, as the men dived into the issues of money and wives and relationship. They could not exhaust this topic, though the hours allocated to this particular segment was extended and other aspects kept at bay. Children money came up. The issue of joint account was brough up and dealt with. One could hear points like 50/50 saving or accounting scheme, while others talked about 100/100. Who will we encourage our wives to relate or associate with and vice versa created it own space and men put their feet down here. Bitter experiences were revealed.
There were games in which men took part in and really exercised their diverse prowess in these areas.
Then the food, Ohhh. Yum Yum. One is already missing the Jollof rice and well seasoned chicken.
Then the gist. From footballs to politics and other interesting issues. Camaraderie was rife.
One could easily describe the outing with the word ambience.
It was truly a spirit filled retreat. I duff my hat for the organisers of such a wonderful occasion. You did really great. And to all the men who graced the event with their joy filled presence, and indeed all men of the RCCG Belgium, thank you for being part of it, one way or the other.
We pray as General Overseer of the RCCG Pastor Enoch Adeboye usually pray at the end of such glorious outings. Though it is great but next year in will be greater in Jesus name …
