FAITH AS A DIVINE GIFT FROM GOD

‎Romans 10:17 (KJV)

‎_“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”_

‎Faith is not a product of human strength or personal determination; it is a divine gift that comes from God Himself. Scripture reveals, “Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God” (Romans 10:17). This means that the very faith that saved us originated from the Word that God spoke. We did not create faith, God imparted it. Salvation came by grace, yet it is faith that connects us to this grace. This is why Scripture asks, “How shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard?” (Romans 10:14). Without the Word, faith cannot be born. Jesus made salvation available through grace, but we receive and access that grace through the Word of Faith that enters our hearts. Every time the Word opens our understanding, faith is activated and begins to operate within us.

‎The Bible teaches that “God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith” (Romans 12:3). This means that every believer begins their walk with God on equal spiritual footing. No believer starts with “more faith” than another; God measured faith equally into every redeemed heart. However, this measure of faith is like a seed, powerful, full of potential, but requiring nurturing. Faith grows only when engaged. When ignored, it remains stagnant and dormant. But when exercised through obedience to Scripture, prayer, and consistent confession of God’s Word, it begins to expand. Jude encourages us to “build up yourselves on your most holy faith” (Jude 1:20), reminding us that faith development is intentional. The more we use our faith, the stronger and more effective it becomes.

‎Jesus demonstrated the power of developed faith in His teaching on speaking to mountains. He said, “Whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed… he shall have whatsoever he saith” (Mark 11:23). Mountain-moving faith is not accidental, it is cultivated. It is the God-kind of faith that believes from the heart and declares with the mouth. Scripture explains this divine process clearly: “The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth and in thy heart” (Romans 10:8). True faith flows from heart to mouth. Many people speak from their minds, logical, surface-level expressions, but the God-kind of faith speaks from deep conviction within the heart. “For with the heart man believeth… and with the mouth confession is made” (Romans 10:9–10). This alignment between heart and mouth is the channel through which divine faith operates. When the Word shapes our inward conviction and governs our declarations, our faith begins to produce supernatural results.
