Igbo Traders in Ifo, Ogun State shutdown their business over the st๐bbยกng to death of an Igbo Woman.
A woman identified as Mrs Blessing Eze a mother of two was st๐bbed to death in Ogun State.
The incident occured when some local hooligans began taxing traders in the market place over the Eid Mubarak festival of Muslim faithfuls that took place yesterday June 6, 2025. Each trader was asked to pay โฆ1,500.
On getting to Late Mrs Eze, she told them she did not have money as at the time they came to her shop. She pleaded that they should come back later. By then she would have made some sales.
The vagabonds instead started destroying her goods. The disraught woman put up some resistance to this wanton act. The result being that one of the ne’er do wells stabbed her in the chest. This led to her death.
So today, Igbo Market Union at Ifo market in solidarยกty and mourning shutdown their businesses in protest. The traders revealed that prior to this woman’s death, they have been experiencing constant assaults and intimidations from these local layabouts.
They have declared 4 days m0รบrnยกng which Igbo traders will not display goods rather it will be for pr0test until relevant authorities intervene on the matter especially the State Government.
One of the Market members who our correspondents interviewed narrated what happened to his wife last year, when the son of the Baba Loja (market head) Waheed, stabbed his wife. He reported same to the police but was instead advised to drop the case for the sake of his life as the said boy is highly connected and deadly. This is the police for you.
This is a call to the Government of Ogun State to intervene and make sure the perpetrators are brought to book.
Such levies that do not go to the coffer of the government should be declared criminal.
