In an unverified news on Friday, May 9, 2025, which is just a month ago, Unknown Gunmen blocked a highway in Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo State, and killed thirty people.
Thirty people died, several vehicles were burnt, businesses were destroyed, public infrastructure was vandalised, and Obi was silent. Why? Because it happened in the Southeast, and Obi does not criticise anything involving Igbos unless he is called out.
Then, a month later, Yelwata occurred in Benue, and Peter Obi and his Obidients suddenly sprang to life. Their propaganda machine went into overdrive. They issued statements not to sympathise with the people of Yelwata but to weaponise and politicise their tragedy to use against President Bola Tinubu.
If you notice, Obi’s statement had only condemnation. No solution. But yesterday, the President spoke and offered solutions.
One of the President’s solutions was to fast-track the State and Community Police initiative, giving local communities control over their security. This solution restored law and order in New York under Mayor Rudy Giuliani.
Other than complaining and condemning, what solution has Peter Obi offered? None. Because he is a trader, not a leader.
This is in line with Obi’s tribalistic character. That is Peter Obi’s regular trademark. If it happens in Igboland, Obi will suddenly become deaf, dumb, and blind. But Peter Obi will dance naked in public if it occurs in the North or Southwest.
