Cameroun is a country with so much history, with part of it having been a Nigerian region. The southern part opted out of Nigeria to join Cameroun. An unfortunate marriage that has left that region with a sour taste in their mouth and regrets in their political expressions.
Some say that like Ghana and unlike Nigeria, that Cameroun because they have not experience a full blown war, like Nigeria has therefore been a peacefull country. One therefore questions if the condition of Cameroun does not warrant a full fledged conflageration so that they will know exactly which direction that nation is facing or going.

The French Cameroon achieved independence on January 1, 1960, while Southern Cameroon, which was under British administration, joined French Cameroon on October 1, 1961 after a United Nations-supervised referendum. The unification of these two territories officially formed the Republic of Cameroon. The above fact brings to the front that the country has two national colonial languages, French and English.

It is note worthy that since its double independence, Cameroun has had only two presidences. Amadu Ahijo and the incumbent, Paul Biya who has been there now for 43 years since 1982. He has had an eight term reign. The man is presently 92 years, making him the oldest head of state in the whole world.
