As time goes on, the toxic relationship between Israel and Palestine becomes more difficult to understand by the observers and other interest groups. This confusion obviously extends even to the direct participants on both sides. From the massive propaganda that have set the global media space ablaze over this current fracas in that enclave one can see the diversity in the narratives. Virtually every narrator seem to have a different version of the reason and occurences of the ongoings. Every side, both the direct participants and outside parties, depending on which side they are supporting are telling their version to enlist the participation, curry the favour and attract the sympathy of the interested global audience. In the same vein these same players are doing their best with their narratives to incur the wrath of the greater international society towards their supposed enemies and paint them as boogey, mosterous, murderous states.
The irony of this matter is that both fighting sides are supposed to be highly religious people. Infact the entire Middle East and the related Mediteranean region is deep in one Faith or the other. At least the three most prominent of the world’s religion being Christianity, Islam and Judahism are know to have emnated from and have their roots there. And these are people therefore who are so deep in their Faith and belief system that their practice bridge on the fanatic. One word and virtue that is common in all the religions practiced all over the world is LOVE.
The Bible which a part of it is derived from the Tora and part of the Koran is derived from says these above Love
Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all offenses.
Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away. When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways. For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.
By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers.
One therefore is wont to ask at this stage, where is the expression of Faith in all this antagonism, hatred, strife, mayhem expressed in violence, killing and destruction? Where is the place of Love in this?
The Bible tells us that God is Love. Where is this Love that these three religions as practiced by these extremely angry and unforgiving people who can either accept the fact that they are destined to be neighbours or cursed to be so. Where is the place of the God that these people confess to worship in this blood letting that has enveloped this region.
While their enemies clap them along and goad them to destruction, those that love them clench their hands in pain and concern and pray that the ever loving God should come to their rescue and bless them with the overwhelming love that will enable them look around and see that that which they are destroying is actually theirs.
