WHAT BROUGHT YOU TO JESUS?
Mathew 11:28 (NKJV)
“Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
Hebrew 9:27 (NKJV)
“And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment”
Many of us didn’t come to Jesus for the same reason. Something drew you; maybe it was pain, confusion, curiosity, or even fear. And that’s okay. What matters is that you came.
A lot of us came to Jesus for different reasons; salvation, redemption, or even friendship. Something always draws a man. But for many, if we are honest, it is the fear of death and what comes after. And there is nothing foolish about that; it is wisdom. When a man pauses to consider eternity, he is already stepping into a higher level of thinking. Life is not just about what we see now; there is more beyond this present world.
Some people choose to believe there is no life after death, but that position is risky. If you live your entire life assuming there is nothing beyond this world and then discovers there is, the consequence is eternal. It doesn’t cost you anything to believe in God, but it can cost you everything to reject Him. In fact, it takes more faith to believe there is no life after death, because you are placing total confidence in your own reasoning. You must believe strongly in yourself and your understanding, even when there are signs all around that point to something greater.
Coming to Christ, no matter your initial reason, is a step in the right direction. God does not reject you because you came out of fear. He receives you with open arms. However, He does not want you to remain at that level. He wants your faith to grow into love, into conviction, and into a deeper understanding of Him. What brought you to Jesus is important, but it is not the final destination. The goal is transformation.
As you continue your walk with God, let your relationship move beyond fear into a place of confidence and trust. Let your faith be rooted in truth, not just emotion. God is committed to your growth, and as you stay with Him, you will find that what started as fear will mature into unshakable conviction.
