The Scope News have found out that certain influencial Nigerians in certain countries in Europe, Asia and some in South America are threatening to write their host countries with a view to detailing reasons why some of the ambassador designates listed by President of Nigeria should be rejected.
When pressed on their seasons for such action, by the Scope correspondents, with the insistence that such action is obviously counter productive. The responses though varied in weight and vehemence pointed to certain issues concerning this present administration in Nigeria.
The insisted that this particular sending out of these envoys is time bad, could not be refuted. From the arguements presented by some of these Nigerians, they insist that before the ambassadors settle down to start addressing and resolving diplomatic issues that have accumulated since ambassador unceremonously withdrawn since this government took over power in Nigeria, they are withdrawn.
Some of the host countries insist that Nigeria treats their diplomats, incuding the ambassadors very shabbily. Most of them find it difficult to pay their residence rents, and other utility bills.
However, the elephant in the room that some of them presented, is that before accreditation and letter of acceptance is given to any ambassador of any countries by any host government, a panel is set up. This very high brow panel is highly paid for these assignment. Therefore, each of these well established countries and government calculate that each ambassador from each land has at least a four year tenur. Unless something ontoward, like a violent change of government (which in some cases work against the concerned country) or the sickness which prompted a recall, or the death of the ambassador. But the arbitary and very unceremonous recalls and relacements of ambassadors from Nigeria to certain sensitive countries, seem to riddled with politics, ethnic and religious biases. Issues that are absolutely undiplomatic.
Record of some of Tinubu’s listed envoys
One will not however dey the fact that some of the envoys of Tinubus government have some quite untidy records. Yes, India outrightly rejected the envoy sent to them, citing one of the reasons given about. An Indian of high status questioned about expressed with a frown the rational behind envoys so let in an administrations tenur, when their election is just around the corner. They find it quite unsettling, that a democratic government could do that. That is, as if they are absolutely sure that they must be reelected. What if they are defeated at the polls.
However, talking about the reputation and image of some of those being sent out, there was circulating in some established media that the one sent to Germany was rejected because of his not so diplomatic activies and very careless utterances in the past. Trully, it is not only this fellow that was designated for Germany that have questionable credentials, that really don’t meet up to diplomatic status. The fellow that was sent to Mexico seem not have measured up. He had accused Tinubu of being a Drug baron in the past. Nigerians smirk at the irony of his being sent to the land of drug reputation. They say that Tinubu sent him there to meet real drug lords. They will surely welcome to their enclave for castigating them.
