THE PROOF OF OUR LOVE FOR CHRIST
John 14:23–24
_“Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings.”_
John 15:10
_If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.”_
Loving Jesus is more than a statement we make with our lips; it is a commitment that is demonstrated through the way we live. Jesus made this very clear to His disciples when He taught that those who truly love Him will keep His commandments. Love for Christ is not measured by emotion alone, but by obedience to His Word. It is easy to say we love Him, but the true evidence of that love appears in our willingness to follow His instructions and align our lives with His teachings.
When Jesus speaks about keeping His words, He is referring to more than occasional obedience. His words are meant to shape and guide every part of our lives. They become the standard by which we make decisions and the principles that govern our actions. When a believer treasures the words of Christ, they are hidden within the heart and allowed to influence thoughts, attitudes, and choices. The Word of God becomes the regulating force of life and the guiding authority that determines how we speak, how we treat others, and how we respond to challenges.
Jesus also gave a remarkable promise connected to this obedience. He said that when a person loves Him and keeps His Word, both He and the Father will come and make their dwelling with that person. This reveals the depth of relationship that obedience brings. It is not about legalism or obligation; it is about fellowship. A heart that treasures the words of Christ becomes a place where God’s presence is welcomed and experienced.
As believers allow His Word to govern their lives, they grow in intimacy with Him and reflect His character more clearly to the world.
