LOVE EXPRESSED THROUGH GIVING
john 3:16 (NKJV)
_For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.’_
Love always gives. God showed the greatest example of love by giving His only Son, Jesus, for our salvation. As John 3:16 states, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life”. This act of sacrificial giving is the foundation of our faith and a clear demonstration that true love is selfless and generous.
Giving is the natural expression of genuine love. When we love, we cannot help but give because love is not passive; it is active and seeks to bless others. Solomon demonstrated his deep love and devotion to God by offering a thousand burnt sacrifices at Gibeon (1 Kings 3:4-5). His giving was not out of compulsion or religious routine but from a heart that sought to honour and please God. This extravagant act of worship touched the heart of God, and in response, God blessed him with wisdom, wealth, and honour beyond measure.
Money and resources are tools to honour God and bless others. In 1 Timothy 6:17-18, the Bible says those who are blessed with resources should not trust in riches but to be rich in good works, ready to give, and willing to share. God blesses us so that we can, in turn, be a blessing to others. However, Satan tries to distort this truth and make us serve money instead of using it as a tool for God’s glory. When we choose God over wealth, our resources remain under His control and are used for purposes that honour Him and bless people.
Jesus warns us in Matthew 6:24 that we cannot serve both God and money. If we are not careful, money can take the place of God in our lives. But true love, rooted in our relationship with God, uses money and resources to further His Kingdom and show kindness to others.
