Police arrest influential northern businessman, Bashir Hadeja over treason, trans-border crimes

A few days after the Endbadgovernace protest rocked certain states of the federation of Nigeria, some arrests were made. These arrests did not make front line news, not until a few days ago, the news broke that a very powerful northerner, who is known to jig with the big boys in the land was picked up by the police. The word that is being heard from the security sources is that he is being charged with treason amongst many other crimes. The name of the influencial northerner is Bashir Hadeja.

The reason for worry here is that since the grossly unpopular Muslim Muslim ticket of this present government which was fully supported by the moslem north of Nigeria, things don’t seem to be working out for the north of Nigeria as one had expected. It is note worthy that since the independence of Nigeria from the British more than sixty years ago, the north of Nigeria have literary bestride the politics of Nigeria to the point that some of them started boasting that it is their birth right and Nigeria as far as they are concerned is a conquered land by them. Yes, observers of the Nigerian political sphere can tell you that there is an overt Tinubu lash at the northerners.

First, he has tushed up the old Dordan Barracks of Obalande Lagos, where the past despotic military heads of states of Nigeria resided, this is at a very high expenses and to the changrin of the Nigerian masses, and sent his vice, Shetimah there. Out of sight and out of sound. Nigerians barely here of or from him for long months now. Then, there is the diminutive El Rufaih, who had reigned uncontrollably during Buharis clueless Baba-go-slow regine. Making very careless statements while throwing his weight around in that period. Now, he was nominated as a minister, but was rejected. Obviously the rejection was by Tinubu the president. Then he has been relegated to the state of out of sight and out of sound.

Then the head man of Meiti Allah who was vaunting himself almost as the head of state. Always trooping around with heavily armed men. Tinubu picked him up and now, he is out of sight and of sound.

Then of course, there is the past president, who slowly is dwinddling into the shadows of oblivion where lots of Nigerians think he truly belongs. No one hears from him or see him as they do his predecessor Goodluck Jonathan. Tinubu has put him out of sound and sight.

Before all these, he had brought in Jesom Wike, a non moslem, a non party member and non northerner to take charge of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja. It is noteworthy that right from the birth of Abuja as the FCT of Nigeria, it has been governed by the northerners. Infact, the Fulani elite boast that Abuja belongs to them as their personal asset. They rule and reign over most of the ministries in that territory as their personal fifedoms. Obviously, some of them who have not assumed the status of the untouchables have long overstayed their retirement. But have obstinately stayed back to continue milking the government dry. Wike was brought in by Tinubu, to weed them all out. This he has done, with speed despatch. There has been the old weeping and wailing and moaning and gnashing of teeth.

As, Wike was carrying out his operation sweep, Tinubu struck again at the heart of the Fulani financial machiavellian syndicate. For longer that any rational Nigerian can remember, the Fulanis have had a stranglehold over the foreign exchange regime of Nigeria. They created a parallel exchange rate, and when it seemed no one was challenging them, they created multple foreign exchanges for Nigeria. A totally prural market to that of the Central Bank of the nation. Now, with Tinubus entrance, he has scattered that mad house. Took the decision making core of the Central Bank out of Abuja to Lagos. Some of extremely irresponsible Fulani scion and spawn who came out of the higher institutions with certificates not worth the papers they are printed on live simply larger than life. Their lifes was simply a constant state of partying, clubbing, expensive drinks, opposite gender florics and drugs. This is with the nations money, drived from the Central Bank. Tinubu, has literry sent all of them to Lagos to go and prove their bureaucratic worth or resign. Obvious the alternative likely to be the option, as most of them dont know jack about the goings on in the Central Bank.

Of course, Tinubus assault on the Fulani version of the Central Bank did not stop thence. He reestablished the system of almost moribund Bureau De Change. Anyone therefore who intends to run foreign exchange business should register and work under a duly registered and Central Bank approved Bureau De Change. Of course, you can not imagine how strigent the conditions of setting of these money companies are. In that one felt swoop, drove all of them away from the road side shanty shacks from which they run their overt and brazen illegal trade. Moving billions of foreign currency as if they were moving toilet papers. Of course all those shanty foreign exchange villages were brought down and totally cleared.

Then, Tinubu turned the biggest and largest of the Fulanis in Nigeria, celebrated as the richest man in Africa, Aliko Dangotte. He is now running around like a headless chicken because Tinubu has stretched out his hand and slapped him on his recent mammoth investment. That Dangotte has been described as a Nigerian AGIP, Any Government In Power, has eleded his praise singers. Every government, as almost all of them for the past thirty years, both military and civilians have had a strong northern presence and participation and have favoured him tremendously. to the changrin, disappointment and disadvantage of many a business in Nigeria with potentials.

A serving northern senator, Ali Ndume, criticized the administration of Tinubu. He was hazzled and harassed and eventually and instatly stripped off his office as a chairman of some committee in the Senate. If that man like El Ruffai his fellow Kaduna man is still in the ruling party is yet to be known.

Now, it is the turn of Bashir Hadeja.

The Scope News learnt that, Hadeja who hails from Kaduna state, was arrested following information that he smuggled large catches of weapons along with large bars of gold believed to have been stolen from the Central Bank of Libya.

Hadeja, who has also been accused of money laundering and other transnational crimes, was over the weekend arrested for subversive activities against government.

“Bashir Hadeja, who traded dangerous weapons along with gold as cover-up, was also accused of being involved in aiding terrorism and other forms of criminality in the northern states of Nigeria along with his sponsors mostly from the northern states with few politicians of Southern extractions,” the report said.

“Responding to sustained interrogations by security, the suspect also confessed to sponsoring a large number of youths who participated in the just concluded #EndBadFovernance Protests in Kano, Kaduna, Jigawa and Abuja.

“He also confessed to sponsoring the attack on Jigawa state APC headquarters.

“The suspect was also found with increminating documents of impersonation, including tracking documents of high profile personalities and an international passport of the Republic of Vanuatu, which will expire on the 14th of September, 2030.”

During the investigation, a video showing the suspect displaying bars of gold carrying Gaddafi’s statue worth one tone believed to have been stolen from the Libyan Central Bank was also seen.

“The suspect is currently cooperating on the investigation, opening up to name his sponsors and other allies, including a former director of the Department of State Security Service, DSS,” the report added.

Reacting to Hadeja’s arrest, Johannes Tobi Wujola, a former spokesperson of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) said:

“Bashir Hadeija’s apprehension may just be one of the biggest arrests of the decade. The circumstances surrounding his arrest were intriguing. Given how connected he is to past and serving government officials, only a few were acquainted with the plan to pick him up.

“And the key players that made it possible were the IGP and the HMoSD—Dr. Bello Matawalle, who employed him some years back as an assistant, but sacked him when he went rogue.

“We are going to see a lot of fighting back in the coming days—the last kicks of a dying horse—from those who were in bed with him. Expect a lot of unforced confessions and big arrests. His phone communications with a vast criminal network that he is part of is revealing, and is being used to out those in the underworld he has been working with. That network is not a small one!

“This is a truly big catch!”

The question in the mouths of Nigerians who feel like cats on hot tin roofs or folks sitting on kegs of dynamite is, What will the northerners do? The endbadgovernance protest the burnt brightly particularly in some northern states then fizzled out without much effect has now been proven with the arrest of Hadeja as having been initiated and carried out by them. Do they still have more serious tricks up their sleeve against this Bola Ahmed Tinubu government?
