Sounds just like one of those half baked Nollywood movies.
Nollywood actor and filmmaker Stanley Amandi, known for directing hits like “The Album” and “Tiger King,” was arrested in September 2025 for his alleged part in a failed coup against President Bola Tinubu. Sources say he was hired by military plotters to act as a propagandist, spreading messages to support their violent takeover plan. This is the first time details about a civilian’s involvement have gone public, with Amandi detained alongside several army officers accused of scheming to assassinate top leaders.
The plot targeted big names like President Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, aiming for a bloody government overthrow. Nigeria’s Defence Headquarters recently confirmed the investigation, calling it a serious breach of military rules, and said the officers will face court-martial while civilians like Amandi head to regular courts. Amandi’s last social media post was just before his arrest, and more arrests of soldiers and others followed the initial probe that started last year.
While some scream ethnicity. This is an attempt to involve the enstranged Igbos in a coup which has nothing whatsover to do with them.
Others see the entire scene as a comical charade. The man is too inconsequential to be involved such an extremely sensitive military operation.
A greater number now assert that involving these actor puts a question mark on the entire fact of a coup; With the story going round the airwaves relating on how the Stanly Amandi was recruited into the plotters, one asks why a supposed propagandist is needed at the stage when the coup has not even commenced. Is it not like beating the gun and yet making a yoddel of it.
Honestly, it looks like a badly scripted and badly produced Nollywood movie.
E get as e be.
