I live in Europe. An European had asked me why our president and his vice seem to running around the world, is there some important things they are desperately in pursuit of. Whet necesitates these travels? Who are which arm of the government approves these frequent back to back travels of the president, his entourage and followed now by his vice, from Guinea to Switzerland. What report like other presidents do they give Nigerians is the success of their travels. Who exactly funds these unceasing travels.
As a true Naijan, I looked the inquisitive oyibo in the eye, and told him that they are on international negotiations.
The rascal blinks and asked, Is that not the work of the ambassadors. In fact, do you have ambassadors, especially in Europe?
I looked away and ignored him at that point. Considering that what he is saying is true.
The Europeans have asked why the four ambassadors that are just appointment have ignored them totally. Instead Turkey that have been accused of having a hand in the insurgences in Nigeria have merited an ambassador, designate.
I however pointed out that France is one of the beneficiaries of this Nigerian diplomatic move.
But honestly, most Europeans are overtly askance on this recent romance of Nigeria and France. when France is being rejected and chased out by their prior African families. So, Nigeria has decided to antagonize these neighboring African countries that have declared their rejection of France.
Tinubu Names New Ambassadors to France, US, UK, and Turkey
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the posting of four ambassador-designates from the 68 nominees earlier confirmed by the Senate, assigning them to key diplomatic missions in France, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Turkey.
According to a State House press release issued on Wednesday, Ambassador Ayodele Oke has been appointed as Nigeria’s ambassador-designate to France, while Colonel Lateef Are has been named as the ambassador-designate to the United States of America.

The President also approved the posting of Ambassador Amin Dalhatu, a former Nigerian envoy to South Korea, as the new high commissioner-designate to the United Kingdom.
Former Kebbi State Governor, Usman Isa Dakingari Suleiman, was appointed as Nigeria’s ambassador-designate to Turkey, a development coming ahead of President Tinubu’s scheduled state visit to the country next week.
In a memo addressed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, President Tinubu directed the ministry to formally notify the governments of the four host countries of the appointments, in line with established diplomatic procedures.
The announcement was signed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, and dated January 22, 2026.
That this came after two and some years of this administration is funny. But what is funnier is that this hasty and honestly shambolic move is being made after America visited Nigeria with some aggression.
That one of the new ambassadorsis accused of not featuring in the original submitted by the presidency for the legislators approval. That a country like Belgium, of which Nigeria’s ambassador sits in the European Union, OACP and Grand Duchy of Luxenbourg did also merit a place in this first appointment, makes it all questionable. Let Europeans not start rejecting NIgeria’s ambassadors when they start coming.
