‎Two brothers who “recklessly” opened fire at a group of men fighting in a daylight street brawl have been jailed for life with a minimum term of 16 years.‎‎Jack Gibney, 25, and Kevin Gibney, 34, shot into the crowd on Delamore Street in Walton, Liverpool on 21 February 2023, but no one was injured.‎‎The pair, both from the city, were both convicted after a trial of attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.‎‎Det Insp Chris Clark of Merseyside Police said the Gibneys “did not have a single thought for the safety of other people.‎‎Police were called to the street at about 13:55 GMT after reports of a group of people fighting in the area.‎‎Both the men were sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court.‎‎Det Insp Clark said: “Sadly we have seen the tragic consequences of a gun being recklessly fired in a public place.‎‎”Thankfully on this occasion nobody was injured but this type of behaviour simply will not be tolerated.‎‎He said it was “right that they [The Gibneys] are behind bars for a considerable period of time as a result of their actions.‎‎©️The Scope news
