President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has accepted the resignation of Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, following some allegations against him.
President Tinubu appointed Nnaji in August 2023.
He resigned today in a letter thanking the President for allowing him to serve Nigeria.
Nnaji said he has been a target of blackmail by political opponents.
President Tinubu thanked him for his service and wished him well in future endeavours.

Despite the terse nature of the report from the office of the Special Adviser to the President, on the above scandal, which of course is the dodgy, information hiding and misinformation nature of this present government when they step into their own self created messy poddle, the Nigerian Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, has resigned after credible evidence from the elite university he claimed to have attended have revealed his academic qualifications were forged. Presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga confirmed the resignation in a statement, saying that President Bola Tinubu accepted it and wished Nnaji well.
Nnaji’s decision came after an investigation revealed that the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), disowned the Bachelor of Science degree Nnaji claimed to hold. UNN said the former minister was admitted in 1981 but never completed his studies or received a certificate.
Now the Nigerian populace await with anticipation to what happens after this. This is an obvious crime. There must be somewhere in the Nigerian Consitution where it is mentioned that forgingery is a crime. No matter the position of the one involved. Not that there is need for great expectation from this APC government of Nigeria, as a fine tooth combing of the certificates of the executive and legislature will surely reveal cancer worms that will topple any well meaning government.
