The die is cast. The stage is set. The momentum is high. The expectations are mind blowing. This is the moment for the rejuvenation and reinvigoration of our dear state. Abia State is on the threshold of history. This is the time to get Abia State working again in pursuit of the vision of the foundation fathers of the state. The goodwill of Abians has brought the paradigm shift and the rebirth of a new Abia State.
Therefore, the incoming administration of Dr. Alex Otti must be built on Goodwill and Good Governance. It is a glaring factual fact that other administrations in the past failed because of the lack of *”Goodwill and Good Governance”*. This was evident in their policies and programs – which were not people oriented. In moving forward, the new administration should base its policies and programs on people oriented agenda. It is not worthy to embark on any project or program that does not have a direct bearing on the welfare and wellbeing of the people in the state.
*APPOINTMENTS:*
On the flip side and taking a cursory look at the past administrations; it is observed that appointments into various key offices were based on political inclinations. Majority of appointments in the state were not made on merits and antecedent. In maintaining the new streak of the Paradigm shift of the 2023 election and the Rebirth of a new Abia State; the incoming administration of Dr Alex Otti must look beyond party lines and make appointments based on merits and antecedent. Abia State is blessed with enough human resources that can change the fortunes of the state within a budget circle.
In searching for the path that leads to the *”New Abia State”* of our dreams as being championed by His Excellency, Dr. Alex Otti; concerted effort must be made to look out for men and women of impeccable integrity. Young men and women who are willing and committed to serve our dear state. This include those in the diaspora – who have distinguished themselves in their chosen careers.
*FOREIGN DIRECT INVESTMENT (FDI):*
One of the critical components that will shape the new Abia State is the attraction FDI. Abians in the diaspora must be encouraged to come home and invest in different sectors of our economy.
The new administration should have a Commission on Diaspora Matters – which will champion the FDI agenda. Nobody will be more patriotic in selling the New Abia than Abians themselves. Therefore, our people should lead in making Abia State an investment haven.
*SECURITY MATTERS:*
The security of life and property reminds one of the cardial purpose of the government. In building the New Abia State of our dreams; the new regime must address the security menace that has bedevilled the place. Touts and all manner of hooliganism must be eradicated for us to have a peaceful atmosphere – where super investment could be recorded.
In conclusion, a new Abia State is possible. And we have all its takes to make it happen. A lot is expected from the new administration. The new regime on her part should live up to its bidding. Abians have freely given him our mandate to steer the affairs of the state.
Finally, this is the time to come together and develop our state. His Excellency, Victor Okezie Ikpeazu said it all when admonished all the candidates that contested alongside Dr. Alex Otti not to go the court to challenge the outcome of the election. There’s no need to waste resources on election that is won and lost. Such funds should be deployed in the development of the state.
