WISDOM TO HANDLE WEALTH

“The blessing of the Lord makes one rich, And He adds no sorrow with it.”
The story of the rich fool in Luke 12 reveals a profound truth: wealth and wisdom are not the same thing. A person may possess the ability to make money and still lack the wisdom to manage life properly. The rich fool accumulated great resources and believed his future was secure because of his possessions. However, he failed to recognize that true security comes from God, not from material abundance. His riches increased, but his understanding did not. This reminds us that financial success alone is not proof of wisdom.
Money requires different dimensions of wisdom. It takes wisdom to earn money, wisdom to manage it, and even greater wisdom to multiply it responsibly. Many people focus only on acquiring wealth but neglect the character, discipline, and spiritual insight required to steward it well. Wealth without wisdom can become a trap, leading to pride, misplaced priorities, and decisions that distance us from God. The blessing of God is not merely the possession of riches but the grace to handle them in a way that honors Him.
One of the greatest dangers of money is its ability to compete with God for the affection and devotion of the human heart. When the pursuit of wealth becomes the ultimate goal, it can quietly replace dependence on God. This is why believers must continually examine their hearts and ensure that God remains their highest treasure. Wealth is a tool, not a master. When surrendered to God, it becomes a blessing that advances His purposes and blesses others. True wisdom is not measured by how much money we have but by how faithfully we steward what God has entrusted to us.
