Hail the new POTUS

After a most entertaining and of course highly pubicised campaign, in which the Americans had to make a choice between a highly maligned ex president coming back for a likely second time and a first time female president who will be a second black president to sit in the oval office, they have made their choice. Bar any shockers from the electoral college or from any other unlikely source or front, Donald Trump will be sworn in as the 47th POTUS – president of the the United States of America.

That this election and its preceeding had its controvercies, its goods and bads and uglies is to say the least. Every card that could be played was tossed on the table. While the evangelicals were pulling the faith and moral string in one direction, in favour of Trump, the democrats were pulling the same string in the other direction, saying exactly the direct opposite of what the opposing group is saying. Then the race card was unleashed and the hue and cry reached the highest heavens.

That some close knit groups including families were torn apart because of this election is a testament of its controvercial status. The mud slinging was simply sophocating. America, and indeed the entire was nervous. Some saw in as unsettling as a cat on a hot tin roof, while others were as tensed as bombs about to go off. Every kind of prediction was released.

Then the election and the result. Yeah, a lot were deeply disappointed, while to others it was sigh of relief. However, lots of folks have adviced the Americans and their allies to hold on tight to the seat for the next four years will be a bumpy ride.

So, to the world, behold Donald Trump, the president of the United State of America.
