Yahaya Bello and EFCC – Who is fooling who?

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has said the former governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello was not in its custody.

The commission, in a statement on Wednesday by its spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, said that Bello remains wanted with a subsisting warrant of arrest.

He said, “Media reports today that a former Governor of Kogi State, Mr. Yahaya Bello is in the holding facility of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, is incorrect. The Commission wishes to state that Bello is not in its custody.Related News

“Bello, already declared wanted by the Commission for alleged N80.2billion money laundering charges, remains wanted with a subsisting warrant for his arrest.”

The joke however is that while the law enforcement commission denies his presence in their facility, the Bello team claim that they came calling, but the EFCC did not have anything whort while to say to them.

Media sources reported it thus:

Former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has arrived at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission headquarters in Abuja, accompanied by his successor, Governor Usman Ododo.

Earlier, Bello’s Director of Media, Ohiare Michael, announced the former governor’s decision to honour the EFCC’s invitation after consultations with his family, legal team, and political associates. Related News

The statement, titled “Former Governor Yahaya Bello Honours EFCC’s Invitation,” confirmed that Bello was joined by several high-profile Nigerians during his visit to the agency.

Now, the question is who is fooling who. I believe sadly that as the thieves in robes are having a field day, the Nigerian judiciary in all in ramifications and representations is smelling of cow dung as the bewildered Nigerians have to endure another slap on their collective faces as another big criminal walks around freely.
