NIGERIA NEWS

The nerve racking Osun state election has come and gone. The fat lady or do I say the dancing senator has danced, as the saying goes, The rest is history.

It is worthy of note, that this same Osun state is the supposed home state of the current APC, the ruling party in Nigeria’s presidential flag bearer, Bola Tinumbu, the acclaimed jagaban of Lagos state. In the permutaions of the supposed political pundits, Osun state was a done deal for this supposedly highly rated politician. That he bribed his way with hard currency so as to secure the presidential ticket of his party is now stale news. That he is a mega billionaire who carts hard currencies in bullion vans and airplanes is not a hidden fact. In this assuption therefore, one had expeced him to buy the entire voters of his home state, so as to deliver this highly sentimental state to his party. But alas, the reverse turned out to be the case. His party suffered a dismal failure, despite the fact that the incumbent governor is of his party.

What one is wont to ask at this juncture is this; What went wrong. Is that the barber is bad or that the clipper is blunt? Has the assumed bottomless pot of hard currencies gone dry? Not likely. therefore the answer obviously lie on the flip of the page. The cause of this shocking victory for the opposition and a colossal loss to the party in government must be the fault of the voters. They have suddenly become not only recalcitrant and fracacious but dangerously incorruptible. Bad bad masses.

As the song goes, The answer my friend, is flowing, the answer is flowing in the wind. Any one that reads can draw his or her own conclusion. Me, I can feel the change in the political temperature of Nigeria. I can clearly see the change in the direction of the wind in Nigeria. The tremors have started that will culminate to an earth shaking earth quake early months of next year, 2023.

The masses that comprise majorly of the of the youth, have spoken, and their message is lous and it is clear. Enough of the stink, enough of the bribery, enough of the mockery to the people, enough of the looting, robberies and lording it over us. Enough is Enough. Simple.

The fact that Senator Adeleke who carted away this victory is a man who taken as quite unserious. Admittesd that he comes from quite a privileged family, but has the politically unforgivable habit of bursting into spontanous bouts of wild and juvenile dancing in very politically unacceptable scenes and locations. Yet the people had rather have him than the stooge of the jagaban. Osun indigenes state with anger in their voice that they had become gullible and naively trusting in the last election four years ago, which saw the APC man into their state house. They had taken for granted the rigging machinery that was set up by the jagaban and his gangsters and had been taken by surprise. But this time, they had kept their eyes wide open, to see hos someone can come and steal their roasting piece of yam from the fire place.

Amidst celebrations and felicitations from Nigerians, including none other than president Buhari, the Osun state Governor-elect, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has said the state has turned a new page following his victory at Saturday’s governorship election.

In his acceptance speech on Sunday, Adeleke said that his victory has launched a landmark path for the progress and prosperity of the people of the state.
