Nigerias New Ambassador to Belgium and the EU right on the ball

Facts emanating from the Nigerian mission in Brussels, Belgium reveal that the new ambassador of the Federal of Nigeria to the Kingdom of Belgium His Excellency Obinna C Onowu, has hit the ground running. The seasoned diplomat who presented his Letters of Credence to King Philipes 1, of Belgium on Tuesday 22nd June, has already made it clear to the officers in his mission, the diplomatic and business communities and other interested parties that presenting Nigeria in good light especially to likely investors is one of the core areas of his interest during his stint in Belgium.

Mr Onowu, according to a statement issued on Sunday by the Nigerian Mission in Brussels, stated this when he presented his letter of credence to the President of the European Commission, Ms. Ursula von der Leyen, in the Belgium capital.

This is strogly buttress by his scheduled meeting with the Belgium business community in a barbecue, B to B in the early days of next month, September. This is an occassion the embassy of Nigeria in Brussels is organising in partnership with the Belgium Luxembourg Nigeria Chamber of Commerce BLNCC.

The Ambassador with his office in Brussels also represents Nigeria in the European Union and in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, further declared the Federal Government’s readiness to work closely with the EU to improve the supply of COVID-19 vaccines to his country, Nigeria.

He pledged to strengthen Nigeria’s bilateral and trade relations with the EU.

The envoy also spoke of Nigeria’s readiness to collaborate with the EU to strengthen the country’s health system

The statement read: “During the discussion with the EU Commission President, the ambassador reiterated Nigeria’s readiness to work with global partners to find sustainable solutions to the country’s health challenges.

“He stressed the need for collaboration in tackling Nigeria’s security challenges and improving bilateral trade between the two partners.”
