Adaeze Ihuoma Onukwue
A demon ravages the soul
A sybaritic creature
Dragging its own to the deep
For wanton pleasure
In that hole,
It dares to curse God and live
But when light comes
Its talons slinker away
Providing reprieve
Albeit brief
For as we know
When the darkness gathers
There is a conquered strength
That lets it sink in its teeth
To begin the journey of forbidden urges
And shameful secrecy
In renewed vigour
After all, it spent its day
Feeding on the mindless voyeurisms
Of its own.
