A new President-General of the apex Igbo socio-cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has emerged.
Professor George Obiozor was elected after polling the highest votes.
Obiozor won the contest with a total of 304 votes.
His emergence follows the tenure expiration of the Chief Nnia Nwodo-led executive of Ohaneze Ndigbo

Abia Delegates Voted in Favour of Professor George Obiozor: 47 Votes. Chief Valentine Oparaocha. O votes
Anambra Delegates, Professor George Obiozor: 41. Chief Valentine Oparaocha, 1 Vote.
Delta State Delegates, Professor George Obiozor: 17 Votes. Chief Valentine Oparaocha, 1 Vote.
Ebonyi State Delegates, Professor George Obiozor: 53 Votes. Chief Valentine Oparaocha, O Vote.
Enugu State Delegates, Professor George Obiozor: 40 Votes. Chief Valentine Oparaocha, 1 Vote.
Imo State Delegates, Professor George Obiozor: 42, Chief Valentine Oparaocha, O Vote.
Rivers State Delegates Voted: 21 in Favour of Professor George Obiozor while Chief Valentine Oparaocha got No Vote from them.
Ohanaeze Affiliate Associations Delegates and Ohanaeze Diaspora Delegates Voted, 43 in favour of Professor George Obiozor while the other contender Chief Valentine Oparaocha got 12 Votes.
The Total Result for President General. of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Election. Oparaocha 15 Votes. Professor George Obiozor 304 Votes.
Also in the same election, an Abia-born Diplomat, a distinguished son of Ukwa ancient kingdom and a former Nigerian Ambassador to South Africa, Ambassador Okey Emuchay was elected as the Secretary-General of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization.
Ambassador Emuchay scored two hundred and thirty five votes(235)to defeat his opponent, Dr Iruke Kalu who scored eight( 8) votes to come second
Another Abia son, from Umuahia, Dr Kingsley Dozie Lawrence was unopposed as the Vice President General of the Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide. He is a medical doctor.
